During the school year, eighth and ninth graders may apply for admission to these specialized programs.
The core program of the Academies is a career-focused, college preparatory academic curriculum. These four-year programs include exciting curriculum and field experience programs. On a limited basis, students who do not enroll in the Academies will still be able to participate in most of the academic courses offered to Academy students. It is our hope that students not enrolled in the Academy will still take advantage of elective courses in science, technology, and the humanities.
While emphasizing academic preparation, the Academy program will include competitions, interaction with field professionals in business and industry, and interaction with our educational partners, Rowan University College of Engineering, Rowan University Computer Science Department, Drexel University College of Engineering, Lebow College of Business at Drexel University, Rutgers University and Gloucester County College.
Students who successfully complete the Academy Program, achieve an SAT score of at least 1200, minimum 550 in mathematics, rank in the top 20% of their graduating class, and maintain a G.P.A. of 89 or better will have automatic admission to either the Rowan University College of Engineering or Computer Science program, or the Drexel University College of Engineering, the Lebow College of Business or Rutgers University. These state-of-the-art programs will provide substantial reward for the academic commitment that will be required of these Academy students. Plans are currently underway to develop similar partnerships for our other Academy students.
We hope that many of our students will apply for admission to one of the Academies at Williamstown High School. For more information regarding admission requirements to any of the Academies, please contact our guidance department.
