- Teachers will continue to practice differentiated instructional strategies in the Language Arts Literacy program. Enhancing instruction for all learners by integrating reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and technology.
- Teachers will infuse children’s literature into their writing lessons to help students model an array of author’s voices/styles when writing. Lessons will include shared writing, prewriting, editing, revision, and a final copy.
- As a Tier I Professional Development School (PDS), our partnership with Rowan University will allow faculty and staff to integrate the four components of a PDS (professional development of Holly Glen faculty, professional development of Rowan students, Holly Glen student achievement and research) to help communicate better with the Holly Glen community.
- Design, model and implement activities and assessments that will infuse technology into the curriculum, and align the activities and assessments with the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards, ISTE and NETS standards. This includes the demonstration of exit-level skills established for each grade level.
- In Mathematics include problem-solving instruction that reflects previously taught skills, and continue the math facts initiative that challenges students in grades 1 thru 4 to master their facts in a timely basis. Implementation of differentiated techniques to improve students’ retention of facts will continue to be emphasized.
- Reinforce the Five Core Values as part of our Character Education Philosophy. Continue the implementation of “Family Night” on a regular basis. Integrate social-emotional learning into all subject areas by providing students opportunities through “Family Meetings” (or referred to as morning meetings) to express their feelings and demonstrate empathy.
- Teachers will infuse a co-teach methodology in regular education and special education classrooms. This will allow teachers across all curricular areas to differentiate instruction continually in the whole group setting. (This will occur whenever situations dictate.)
