Books stacked in three pilesOur Philosophy

The primary goal of the Library Media Center program in the Monroe Township Public School District is to ensure that students and staff become effective and responsible users of ideas and information.  This is accomplished by providing equitable physical and intellectual access to a well-developed collection of materials in diverse formats.  These resources are used to implement, enrich, and support the curriculum and to meet the individual educational, emotional, and recreational needs of students, faculty, and staff.

Our Mission

The Library Media Center program aims to develop lifelong learners and reading habits, and to play an integral role in the education of our students. To accomplish these goals, it promotes:

-literary, aesthetic, and cultural appreciation of all forms of media
-reading and independent study for learning, personal growth, and enjoyment
-the ability to intelligently evaluate and draw conclusions from information sources in any format

These goals are supported by the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, the American Association of School Librarian's Standards for the 21st-Century Learner, and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and   the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.
