School Closing / Cancellation:

When inclement conditions or other emergencies force a change in the school schedule, radio station KYW (1060 AM) will announce the specifics of the situation.

The District's School Closing Number is 811

You can also access the school closing list online here or at the KYW1060.com web site, or you can call the KYW News Radio School Closing Line at 1-215-925-1060. And on TV: KYW-3, WPVI-6, NBC-10. School closing information will also be communicated through the Global Connect Notification System; an automated system that will place a call to your primary telephone number.

Early Dismissal / Emergency Closing

In the interest of safety, it may become necessary to dismiss students in the Monroe Township Public Schools prior to the regular dismissal time because of inclement weather or other emergencies.

FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS ONLY, every effort will be made to contact a person on your Emergency Card to alert you regarding an emergency school closing.

If under special circumstances it becomes necessary to close the school(s) before the normal dismissal time, every attempt will be made to have the announcements carried over the Philadelphia area radio stations. The number for the Monroe Township Public Schools is "811."

You can also access the school-closing information on-line at www.monroetwp.k12.nj.us or KYW1060.com., or you can call the KYW Newsradio School Closing Line at 1-215-925-1060. And on TV: KYW-3, WPVI-6, NBC-10. School closing information will also be communicated through the Global Connect Notification System; an automated system that will place a call to your primary telephone number.

We share you concerns for the young children going home at a time when no one may be home to receive them. We urge you to discuss this with your child(ren) beforehand and devise a plan that can be followed under emergency circumstances.

An early closing for the school district would only take place under emergency conditions; and for that reason, we seek your cooperation and understanding. Thank you for your assistance in planning with your child(ren) for this situation.

Delayed Opening:

We are pleased to again this year provide a DELAYED OPENING SCHEDULE.  A delayed opening schedule would be followed during occasions when we may have inclement weather or other emergent conditions that would jeopardize the safety of students coming to school.

A delayed opening of school will mean that all schools will open two hours later than the regular schedule.

Therefore, schools would open as noted in the following schedule:
Holly Glen Elementary School   10:55 a.m.
Oak Knoll Elementary School
Radix Elementary School
Whitehall Elementary School
Williamstown Middle School   10:10 a.m.
Williamstown High School     9:30 a.m.
A.M. Kindergarten     Canceled
A.M. Preschool at Radix     Canceled
A.M. Just Kids Program     Canceled

You will be notified of a delayed school opening through radio and television media - the same as for emergency school closing.  Delayed school opening information will also be communicated through the Global Connect Notification System; an automated system that will place a call to your primary telephone number. The same school closing number “811” will be announced as a two-hour delayed opening.

You can also access the school-closing information on-line at www.monroetwp.k12.nj.us or KYW1060.com., or you can call the KYW Newsradio School Closing Line at 1-215-925-1060.  And on TV:  KYW-3, WPVI-6, NBC-10.

It is most important that you make supervision arrangements for your young children during delayed openings.  We understand the supervision complications for families during a delayed opening; therefore, we will use this procedure only as determined to be necessary.

Our schools have revised their schedules to be prepared in the event that a delayed opening schedule is enacted.  This will ensure the serving of lunch, as well as meeting the New Jersey requirement for at least a four-hour instructional day.  Dismissal times remain the same.

We appreciate your cooperation in assisting for smooth implementation of a delayed school opening schedule. Best wishes for a safe, healthy and successful school year!
