Bug Club ( Bringing Up Grades )
Our school is involved in the BUG (Bring Up Grades) Club, sponsored by the Kiwanis. This program is designed to provide recognition to students in grades one through four who (a) raise their grades into an acceptable range (b) maintain or continue to raise them from one grading period to the next, or (c) show overall improvement in several areas. Children can earn BUG Club recognition on any given marking period following the first marking period, which is used as a base line grade for each student. Students will be honored each marking period thereafter if they maintain their grades from the first marking period report card and raise one subject by one grade i.e., C to a B or a B to an A, etc. Increasing a mark from U-Unsatisfactory to N-Needs Improvement, etc, would qualify a student for recognition. This includes all subject areas as well as the arts. Our goal is to motivate all students to try their best and achieve academically. Students receiving this recognition will be honored on our BUG Club wall. A SUPER BUG is also part of this program. A SUPER BUG is a student who has helped others in achieving their goal of bringing up one grade. The student is nominated by their classroom teacher to receive this recognition. This recognition would be for those students who receive all A’s and/or O’s on their report cards (depending on the grade level). I am very excited about this program and look forward to creating the Bug Club bulletin board featuring our students. |
